The original Digg was a website designed by four Americans in 2004. Since then, the idea has inspired a number of other sites. A Digg or Digg like is a site that presents articles (or excerpts) for internet users to rate. This means articles are presented in the form of a ranking, from the best to the least liked, and structured according to subject matter: politics, news items, etc.

- A word of advice to authors: you have to put your ego aside if you send an article to a Digg like, as you might not make the grade! It’s as painful as getting zero for an essay you’ve handed in. For the internauts “reading” these articles, on the other hand, it’s great – they get a feeling of power from being able to make or break your work by giving it a “virtual” thumbs-up or thumbs-down.
